Firmware for HP cp1700 Type: Firmware   HP Color Inkjet cp1700 Firmware Version 1014A     Release date:  06-May-2002   Version: 1014A This firmware supports the hp color inkjet printer cp1700 series printer.­ It is highly recommended to upgrade to this new version if your printer firmware version is 1009A or lower.­ For a detailed description of the defect fixes,­ please refer to the readme file: readme To check the version of your firmware,­ you may use either one of the following methods.­ 1.­       Using the Toolbox 1.­       Click Start,­ Programs,­ HP Color Inkjet CP1700,­ and then HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Toolbox.­ 2.­       Select the Information tab.­ 3.­       Click Printer Hardware.­ 4.­        The current firmware version will be displayed in the Printer Information dialog box.­ NOTE:   The Toolbox must be properly set up for method 1 to work.­ 2.­       Using the printer's Control Panel ·          Turn on the printer and wait for the LCD on the printer to display “READY.­” ·          Press and hold down the POWER button.­ ·          While holding down the POWER button,­ press the RESUME button 5 times.­ ·          The firmware version will be displayed in the printer’s LCD.­ Step 2: Download Instructions 1.­    Create a new folder on the hard drive in which to save the downloaded files.­ ·          Right-click the Start button and then select Explore.­ ·          Click Local Disk (C:).­ ·          Click File,­ New and then Folder.­ ·          Type a name for the folder and then press Enter.­ 2.­      Download the firmware package UMR1014A.­EXE (Windows) or UMR1014A.­SIT (Mac OS) to the new folder created above.­ The latest firmware for the printer can be downloaded from the Internet at http:/­/­www.­hp.­com.­ Click here to go directly to the Downloads and Drivers page for the printer to download the latest firmware.­ 3.­       Uncompress the firmware package by double-clicking and save the files in the same folder.­ 4.­        Check that all the following files are there before proceeding.­ For Windows ·          PRNUTIL.­EXE ·          UMR1014A.­FHX For Mac OS ·          DropPrint|USB PPC ·          UMR1014A.­FHX   Step 3: Upgrade Instructions    For Windows Users ·          Connect the printer to the parallel port (LPT1) of the PC via a parallel cable.­ ·          Turn off the printer if it is on.­ ·          Press and hold down the RESUME button.­ ·          While holding down the RESUME button,­ press the POWER button once to set the printer to Flash (update) Mode.­ The LCD should display RCVING FHX Header.­ ·          Run PRNUTIL.­EXE.­ ·          Click Browse,­ select UMR1014A.­FHX and then click Open.­ ·          Select LPT1: under the list of available ports.­ ·          Click Go to start upgrading the firmware.­ ·           Ensure that the printer is in Flash Mode and click OK to proceed.­ ·          The progress of the update is shown by the progress of the asterisks (*) across the printer’s LCD.­ NOTE:   Do not interrupt the printer while flashing is in progress.­ The process takes about 5 minutes.­ ·           The printer will automatically turn off when the update is completed and the printer will be ready to use.­ For Mac OS Users ·          Connect the printer to the Macintosh via a USB cable.­ ·          Turn off the printer if it is on.­ ·          Press and hold the RESUME button.­ ·          While holding down the RESUME button,­ press the POWER button once to set it to Flash (update) Mode.­ The printer’s LCD should display “RCVING FHX Header.­” ·          Launch the DROPPRINT*USB PPC application.­ ·          Select the USB printer in the dialog.­ ·          From the File menu,­ select "Select File.­" ·          Click on the firmware file UMR1014A to start firmware upgrading.­ ·          The progress of the update is shown by the progress of the asterisks (*) across the printer’s LCD.­ NOTE:   Do not interrupt the printer while flashing is in progress.­ The process takes about 5 minutes.­   ·          The printer will automatically turn off when the update is completed and the printer will be ready to use.­
